As we prepare for the launch of the iPhone 16 in September, the first rumors of the iPhone 17 are starting to emerge - and the latest leak may be enough to convince you to wait until 2025 to upgrade to your next iPhone.
The leak comes from the often-trusted Ice Universe on Chinese social media site Weibo (via MacRumors ), and it includes four phones we can expect next year.
One of the rumors we've heard is that the Plus model will be replaced by a new Slim flagship, and that's the first reason you might want to skip the iPhone 16 - the arrival of the new, more complete iPhone 17. the model will have a 6.65-inch screen and a starting price of $1,299 (around £1,000 / AU$1,950).
However, there is confusion about the Slim model in this new leak: it is said to be the most expensive of the four, but it has the same specifications as the standard iPhone 17. It is possible that some of those features were mistakenly copied from the iPhone. 16 Plus.
Always on
The second reason to hold on to the iPhone 17: all four models get Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO) displays, which means ProMotion (variable refresh rate), and always-on display modes (both are currently exclusive. to handsets Pro and Pro Max).
Reasons three, four and five to wait are specific to the Pro and Pro Max (and possibly the Slim): 12GB of RAM, three 48MP rear cameras, and the A19 Pro chip based on the new 3 production process -nanometer. All of that can mean a significant step up in terms of performance and photography and videography.
Obviously we're still not sure what the iPhone 16 series will bring, let alone the iPhone 17; but due to the rumors we have seen so far, this year's development is set to be much smaller than the rumored 2025 launch.
